Mary Ellen + Cathy + Barb + Bruce + Les

Some of the highlights from a family portrait I did on the weekend. I learned one thing, Bruce loves him some tractors. And then I took some shots of Mary Ellen with her beau Ken. For some reason I kept humming “Thank God I’m a country boy” as I was lugging my lights around the farm.

Jill + Scott | Photo Booth

I ran a photo booth at Jill & Scott’s awesome vintage style wedding last night at the Inn at Christie’s Mill in Port Severn. It was my first attempt and it was AMAZING! Everyone had fun. It was super easy to use. I had the guests triggering the booth with a remote when they were [...]

Rachel + MacLaren Art Centre | Portrait

Rachel is a beautiful, up-and-coming model hopeful who I’ve worked with in the past. We met up recently to do a portrait shoot at the MacLaren Art Centre. The MacLaren is one of the few places in Barrie where photographers are welcome and it’s ok to shoot within certain limits. Beyond that, it’s a stunning [...]

Second Shooting at Deer Creek

I don’t have a lot of time to craft a post today, I’ve been on the phone all morning trying to straighten out some suppliers and I gotta run to grab Syd from school soon. Since I’m such a sharer I wanted to post some of my favourite images from a wedding I second shot in [...]

Nicole | Trash The Dress

This stuff is GOLD baby! Can you tell I’m proud of this shoot? You might recognize the model in this trash the dress shoot as Nicole from Flowers By Design and Little Birdie Wedding and Event Florals (the kick ass-ing-est florist in Barrie – I say that without hesitation, even though it might wreck whatever goodwill [...]

Lindsay + Will | Married!

I’ve been wanting to tell you about Lindsay and Will’s wedding for a while now. I showed up at their place to shoot Lindsay and her bridesmaids. I got there as they were finishing getting ready and took some candids before pulling them into the backyard for some fun shots. We trucked it on over [...]

All Nighter Shoot | 2010

Like all my posts this one is WAY behind. Meh… whatcha gonna do? Last year a bunch of us got together for a shoot at night. It was called the “All Nighter Shoot” and it was awesome. Well this year it happened again and we rocked it. I love shooting at night. I get to [...]

Jeff + Christine | Married!

I’ve been hanging on to this one for a long time. Jeff and Christine already have their album delivered and in their hands, so it’s been a while. I usually try to show you fresher stuff, but I’ve been short on time as of late and haven’t been blogging much. I shot this wedding way [...]

Greg + Christina | Honey & Dear
I shot a wedding yesterday with the amazing Andrew and Emily from the wedding film company Honey & Dear. Honey & Dear is the reinvention of Sorlie Arts which I raved about here. I was a huge fan when I blogged about them then and I’m an even bigger fan now. I’ve shot quite a few [...]

James + Whitney | E-Session

Remember when I had my lovely assistant draw a name for a free engagement session? Well, we waited until it got hot and I picked up James and Whitney and trucked them out to the Badlands in Caledon. Not familiar? The Badlands is a unique area formed by geological shenanigans that looks like it’s been transported [...]

Katie’s RTD Featured on the Wedding Bells Blog

Recently, I shot a Rock The Dress session with Katie. I’m really happy with the way the pictures turned out and I submitted them to Wedding Bells who choose to feature some of my pictures in an article on Rock The Dress (or Trash The Dress) sessions. A quick synopsis of the article: “Trash The [...]

Sterling | Gown Go Round

Sterling and I got together to do a shoot for Gown Go Round – a bridal gown shop in Newmarket. Tara is the proprietor and she’s a super sweet lady. Her shop is a bit different than most bridal shops. It’s a consignment shop and she also rents dresses. It’s a good choice for a practical bride. [...]

Heather | Maternity Session

Heather asked “Do you do maternity photography?” “Um, yep.” says I. “Cool” “Cool” So I loads her and John in the car and we truck on over to my friend (another) Heather’s studio. John sat in for a few shots and I finished with Heather on her own. I wanted a different look from the [...]

Melanie + Aaron | e-session

Melanie and Aaron are one of my awesome couples. I usually like to shoot an engagement session about a month or two before the wedding but Melanie was super excited to get the shoot done so we did it back in the fall at a secluded spot by the lake in Barrie. I’ve just been [...]

Awesome Wedding Pro – Flowers by Design

Nicole is another fantastic wedding vendor here in Barrie. She has a wonderful little flower and gift shop tucked into the corner of Huronia and Big Bay called Flowers by Design. I’m not going to pretend I know a lot about flowers, but she put together a bouquet for my wife that I’m still getting [...]

Awesome Wedding Pro – Sorlie Arts

I met Andrew Sorlie a while back at a photographer’s pub night. That’s right, we get together and drink beer and talk cameras. Only thing is, Andrew’s not a photographer per se. He’s a wedding cinematographer. And he’s wicked at it. We’ve met up a few times since then, most recently at a workshop called [...]

And the winner is…

At the wedding show at the Monte Carlo Inn in Barrie last Sunday I collected ballots for a draw for a free engagement session. So here’s how the draw went down. Here’s my lovely assistant. We started with a bin full of ballots. Shake – a – shake – a Congrats Whitney! Your gift certificate [...]

Portrait Session With Dee

I met with Dee last summer to do a portrait session at the Adamson Estate Park in Mississauga. We only had a short time to shoot, which is really too bad since it’s such a beautiful place. We were able to shoot in the shade of the old barn and around the main house a [...]

Purple Hair and Broken Glass

I shot Laura for the first time almost a year ago. I guess she liked the experience enough to let me shoot her again. This time we waited until the weather was warmer and we tried something different. There’s an empty industrial building I see on an almost daily basis in Barrie that I thought [...]

Jen & Chester

Jen and Chester are the coolest! First off any bride that wears white Converse All-Stars gets cool points. Second, the inspired choice of venue – an art gallery – more cool points. Jen’s a local high school teacher and Chester’s job is really exciting and top secret, like accountant or something. Anyways, I met them [...]

Courtney

Courtney gave me a call back in the summer. She was interested in a creative portrait shoot and wanted to use some of the images as part of an acting portfolio. I called and booked a professional makeup artist, Ashley Dinning, on Courtney’s behalf. Ashley was able to join us for the duration of the [...]

Adjusting vs. Retouching

There’s a difference between the images that come out of the camera and the ones that I deliver to a client. Straight off the memory card the images are flat and lack punch. A lot of times I need to fine tune exposure (sometimes it’s more than a fine tuning). When I deliver digital images [...]

These are some pictures of Morgan that I dug up from a couple of years ago. At the time Morgan was an aspiring model that was working with my wife. I was starting to build a portfolio and needed to shoot people. All my friends and family had long since run out of patience with [...]
